The Window
Thanks to its glass façade, the apartment has a privileged view of the harbour and the sea. To this end, the renovation of the apartment was carried out following an open plan design, in which the solid walls were reduced. The auxiliary hence closed spaces (bathroom, utility room) are placed at the back of the apartment, leaving the main functions in direct contact with the view. The front window zone is therefore offered for the living area, including also a reading corner.
The Harbour apartment is located in the heart of the port of Thessaloniki and was completely renovated in order to convert it into a short-term residence studio.
The design is made around 3 main axis: the window, the box and the dining table.
The dining table
An open kitchen is located in the centre of the room with the characteristic island-dining table. Its design features a combination of wood, rough materials and white tones that creates a sense of contrast and intensity.
Finally, the bathroom of the apartment follows the design line of the rest of the apartment, featuring modern, homogeneous materials, earthly textures and colour palettes.
The project was successfully accomplished, both in terms of design as well as supervision, in close collaboration with our friends and colleagues from USEarchitecture.

The box
The temporary use of the apartment allows the design of a semi-open sleeping area, free from the conventional walls of a bedroom. The result is the “box within the box”, a black volume in the centre of the apartment, in which the bed is placed on a wooden pedestal and facing the view. A black-out curtain provides the necessary isolation and protection of the bed from the morning light.
